Proofstack Verified is documented proof that you operate as a genuine independent contractor. Your independence signals are mapped to the ABC test, your documents are on file, and your engagement history is confirmed by employers.
How it works
The verification process
Proofstack doesn't just take your word for it. Every signal you declare is tracked, and verified signals are confirmed through documentation, employer confirmation, or compliance team review.
Declare your independence signals
Select the signals that describe how you work: own tools, own schedule, multiple clients, business entity, liability insurance, and more. Each signal maps to a specific prong of the ABC test.
Upload supporting documents
W-9, Certificate of Insurance, business registration, contractor agreements. Documents are stored securely — employers see type and verified status only, never content.
Build engagement history
Log your client engagements. When an employer confirms the engagement through Classifi, it becomes a confirmed engagement on your profile — strong evidence of independent operation.
Earn your Proofstack Score
Your 0-100 verification score is calculated from profile completeness, W-9 status, independence signals, engagement history, and document verification. Higher scores mean stronger contractor identity.
Classification defense
Independence signals and the ABC test
The ABC test presumes you are an employee unless three conditions are met. Proofstack maps every independence signal to the specific prong it supports, building a documented defense of your contractor status.
Prong A — Freedom from control
You are free from the control and direction of the hiring entity. Signals: own schedule, own workspace, own methods.
Prong B — Outside usual course of business
You perform work outside the hiring entity's usual business. Signals: multiple clients, different industry, concurrent engagements.
Prong C — Independently established trade
You are customarily engaged in an independently established trade. Signals: business entity, liability insurance, own website, invoices clients, sets own rates.

Proofstack Score: 0-100
Your verification score is a composite of five categories. The higher your score, the stronger your documented contractor identity.
